Today we ate porridge again for breakfast. But this time a cold one. After breakfast we walked the opposite direction as Tess told us that there are the nearest supermarktes. We wanted to look around because we promised Tess to cook something for her. Kadda and I went there and discovered a piece of home. A Lidl store in the centre of London! We walked back and Kadda couldn't overcome the temptation to say 'Hello' to some builders who were working on some apartment building. But as one of them wanted to have a conversation with us, we hastened away. Before we |
reached the tube station, some guys appealed us and told us that we are beautiful girls. Of course we are beautiful, you haven't to say it! But thank you anyway ;D
We went by tube to Russell Square. There we visited the Russell Square Garden, the location of the first Sherlock episode. In this park John Watson and his former fellow student Mike Stampford. The park isn't very huge, but we couldn't find the exact bench where they were sitting. All looked the same and they probably moved the bench for the episode. We walked around the park, because nobody should say that we weren't at the right place! Especially interesting was a guy who was doing a kind of Tai Chi. It looked like he wanted to attack the bin. Very cute was a little squirrel which played in the park.

Our next aim was Northumberland Street. There was filmed the taxi chase from the first episode of Sherlock. We went by tube to Charing Cross and we went out of the tube and some wonderful music encounted us. Two guys sat in the tube station and showed their musical talent. We passed them and went upstairs. There we decided that those boys are really good and we should give them money. We turned around to do so, something we would have never done in Germany - maybe. On the escalator we joked that they will stop singing when we reached them. Before we found our feet again, they stopped singing. (That's our luck, again.) We weren't put off and threw some coins in their suitcase. Then we left the tube station hastily. Why did we left in a hurry? Well, we have never done such a thing before. On the fresh air again, we searched the Northumberland Street and found the Sherlock Holmes Pub.
Since Kadda is a little bit clumsy and she was so excited by that view, she almost forgot how to walk, as a result she stumbled over her own feet and nearly fell. Now we were at Northumberland Street and wonderd if we are right here. Many things here in real life looked different from the thins in the series.
We walked on and saw the Hungerford Bridge. We crossed the bridge.

Actually we wanted to walk back and film all again, but it started raining hard and we decided to wait under the bridge until it stopped.
The rain became less and we walked towards London Eye.

We reached the Westminster Bridge and crossed it too.
Before we reached our next aim, we visited a War Memorial.
Our aim wasn't far away. The Trafalgar Square. This place was crossed from Sherlock and John in the second episode. There were a lot of young people, who were looking forward to the Olympic Games. They were filmed by a TV team.
We felt a little bit out of place and walked on, in order to visit the Diogens Club, which should be not far away from the Trafalgar Square. But we got lost again.
We found the Diogenes Club, but we weren't sure if this building was really the place where Mycroft Holmes opened his famous Club. We sat in front of the London University and checked the building again with a cut scence on my mobile phone. During we did this, three boys in Batman costumes passed by us and we were amazed again. Unfortunately they were too fast, otherwise we had asked for a picture. The building was the right one, which was used in the sixth episode as Diogenes Club and we took pictures of it and filmed it. However we had to hurry, because a chic man was standing in front of the building (it seemed like he was some kind of bouncer) and everything seemed very posh. On the parking area stood one expensive car next to each other, just to add that.

We walked on and stopped at Piccadilly Circus to take pictures of the tourists.
Now we went to Chinatown.
Tess gave us the hint that Chinatown is a good place to eat cheap. But we almost couldn't choose a restaurant, because there are so many! A Chinese woman took off the decision from us. She told us the advantages of her restaurant. I didn't listen to it, because I was busy to starr on the huge menu in front of the restaurant.
We entered the restaurant and got a table without any wait. But this one stood in the middle of the room. Excellent, everybody could look at us and see how European act dump with Chinese food. There were also only Chinese people in this restaurant. Each of us was handed over two menus by the waitress. No wonder that it took ages until we ordered. Our choice was tea and fried noodles with duck. We got our meal and Kadda took naturally the chopsticks. However I didn't want to make a fool of myself and chose the fork, which laid kindly next to |
the chopsticks. The noodles were very delicious, the duck probably too, if we could have had the chance to eat more of it. The meat of the duck was still fix on the bones. It was nearly impossible to remove the meat from the bones – even with the fork! That's what I call cruelty to animals, when an animal has to die and you can't eat it! Unfortunately we had to left over the duck. But it was not so bad, because we were so overeaten, we hadn't reached anyway. We wanted to floor the teapot, paying and leaving the restaurant. Well, this was our plan. The operative word is 'OUR'. Not theirs. I checked how much we had to drink by lifting the top and looked into the teapot. It wasn't much in it and we were very happy that we could leave the restaurant soon. That we thought, but we didn't reckon on the attention from the waitress. He took away the teapot fast as a lightning and filled it up again. Now we had to drink more than actually planned. With this much liquid, I had to go to the toilet. I went upstairs, during Kadda sat alone in the middle of the restaurant. A Chinese man, probably the boss of the restaurant, began to talk in an angry way towards Kadda. She was a little bit suprised and awed and looked to her right into a mirror to check if a employee stood behind her, who could speak with the boss, but there wasn't one. I came back and we hurried to pay.
We saw a little tea store and Kadda wanted to buy a tea. She bought a Pearl Jasmine tea. Now we joined our hobby. We went by bus to Victoria Station. The bus driver was really aggressive, as he tooted at every trifle. But it was very funny.
At Victoria we went by tube to Marlbe Arch, because we wanted to Hyde Park in order to see different people who talk about everything at Speaker's Corner. Stupidly, there weren't any people, who spoke. We walked on and sat down on a fountain and watched squirrels.

After our little relaxing, we went by bus to Marble Arch again. There we saw a Yoga group. We had the idea to go there and join the group, but we let it alone. We would just have made fools of ourselves.
Our next aim was Scotland Yard. There we took pictures of each other and as an elder man with his colleague entcountered us, we asked them if they could take a picture of us. The woman ran away and said something like 'don't do this'. But the elder man was too slow and so he had to take a picture of us.

We walked on and discovered Westminster Abbey.
Before we arrived at the Parliament Square, we took a few pictures with a typically red call box. The door was really heavy to open and it smelled not really good in it, but for London tourists is a photo with a red call box a must-see!
Now we stood in front of the Palace of Westminister. Wow how huge it is! Amazing! And so beautiful! The place where Moriarty got a text message from Irene Adler and sent a text message to Mycroft Holmes (first episode of season two), were found by us very quickly and we unpacked our acting talent and reenacted the scence. |
We sat on a little wall and had an amazing view of the building. My burger from Thursday was still in my bag and with this nice backdrop, it tasted even better. We were sated and took some pictures.
We relaxed a little bit and watched some Asians, who took also pictures. Suddenly a limousine passed us. In it was a young guy who looked throught the roof-light and shouted 'LONDON'. It was really funny and we attached from his good mood and shouted 'YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH'. Unfortunately he didn't take us with him. Ok, it's very difficult to park there.
We wanted to go to the next Bus stop. Before we arrived there, a man asked us, if we could take a picture of him and the Churchill Statue. He gave us his Blackberry and Kadda left it for me to take the picture. Stupidly, I have never held a Blackberry in my hands and so I pushed a button, which I assumed that this is the release button. This was the wrong button and the mobile phone switched off. Panicly I gave the mobile phone back. He described us how it works. This time Kadda wanted to take the picture. It worked! He thanked Kadda and asked her if she can speak Spanish. She answered with 'un poco' (a little bit). We aren't able to speak Spanish better. . .

We went by bus to Goodge Street. There we saw a Tesco and bought bananas and mini-doughnuts. There we went by tube back to Tess. She wasn't at home, but she arrived a few minutes after us. She was really excited, because her neighbour wanted to chuck his table away. She asked us if we could help her to carry this table into her flat. Of course we helped her and now Tess has got a table! We ate together and solved some corssword puzzles. Well, I only watched how they solved it. Our dessert was a peach ice cream and strawberry sorbet made by Tess. Really delicious! Good sated we went to bed.
